Food and beverage marketing works best when the shop and the marketing are planned together, because ads and emails can only sell as well as the store they send people to. We build Shopify stores around how your customers shop, then run the search, ads and email that bring them back to buy again.

Our food and drink projects include snack and confectionery brands in Ireland, a Malaysian condiment maker in New York, a California smokehouse and a UK wine club. Netcrisps started as a wholesale snack business run from a back garden. We built its store for more than 350 products and ran its SEO, paid ads, email and social media, and it now ships worldwide, with more than 45% of customers coming back to buy again.

The problem

What holds food and drink businesses back online

A store that can't keep up

Sites that crash when traffic peaks, clunky checkouts and back ends that turn each day's orders into hours of admin cost both sales and time.

Offers the basket can't handle

Bundles, subscriptions, mixed cases and wholesale orders are where standard shop set-ups tend to trip up, just as a customer is ready to pay.

Bigger brands fill the results

Major brands and established wholesalers already rank for the obvious searches and fill the social feeds, so a smaller brand needs sharper search and ad targeting to be seen.

Online shops for food and drink brands

We build Shopify stores organised the way your customers shop, which isn't always by product type. Auria's Malaysian Kitchen is organised by recipe, so someone who wants to make nasi lemak finds the condiments that go into it. Party Sweets, an Irish confectionery business that had never sold online, has around 350 products sorted into pick and mix, retro sweets, chocolate and party bags.

When you're moving from another platform, nothing should be lost on the way. We moved Auria's store to Shopify with every customer record, past order and product intact, and after the move its daily order processing dropped from two or three hours to under 20 minutes. For Cambridge House, a Santa Barbara smokehouse, we carried thousands of past orders and customer accounts across from the old site.

Some offers need a store built around them. Savor by Suzie lets customers build their own pretzel bundle and subscribe to regular deliveries, and Cambridge House takes wholesale orders in the same store as retail. For The Wine Engine, a UK wine club, we built a basket that counts the bottles in a mixed case and applies the right saving by itself.

Paid ads and email for food brands

Paying to win a customer makes the most sense when they come back to buy again, because each new buyer is then worth more than their first order. For Netcrisps we started with SEO, matching hard-to-find snacks to the searches people make for them by name. Then we scaled the ads across Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, with each campaign aimed at a different group of snack buyers.

Email keeps those customers ordering without paying for another ad. For Netcrisps we built a list of 15,000 to 20,000 subscribers and set up automated emails for abandoned baskets, product launches, seasonal promotions and lapsed customers, alongside regular campaigns.

Crispy Green, a New Jersey snack brand, came to us after its previous agency locked it out of its own website. We recovered the site, moved the store to Shopify and took on the SEO and Google Ads. Traffic and online sales are now several times what they were before the rebuild, and the store's success has fed the brand's move into wholesale retail across the US.

Marketing for restaurant groups

A restaurant group needs every location to be easy to find, easy to book and easy to review, without the marketing multiplying with every new site. For Spice India, we merged six or seven separate location pages on Facebook and Instagram into one brand page. We also rebuilt the website with booking forms that send each reservation to the right restaurant, and brought online ordering into the site.

We put QR code review displays in every restaurant through MyReviews, the review platform we built, and ran local SEO for each town. Over a four-year partnership the group grew from four locations to seven and collected around 4,000 reviews. Our guide to restaurant social media marketing covers the social side in more detail.

The same thinking applies to leisure venues that take bookings. Buttermountain Golf & Leisure Club had no website before we built one, and golfers can now book tee times and pay for membership online without anyone on staff getting involved.

“It's hard to put into words how glad and appreciative I am to have worked with Everblue Digital. Their professionalism is second to none, and the effort and attention to detail they put in is astounding. In a few days, they transformed my business to the point where I can gladly say that I’m now making lots of sales thanks to the work they did on my company's website and social media. To sum it up, all I can really say is that they are some of the soundest, most helpful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.”

FAQ

Food and drink marketing questions

If your question isn't answered here, email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

Do you build Shopify stores for food and drink brands?

Yes. Netcrisps, Party Sweets, Crispy Green, Auria's Malaysian Kitchen, Cambridge House and Savor by Suzie all sell through Shopify stores we built, and we built the custom basket behind The Wine Engine's store. We design each one around how its customers shop and the offers it needs to handle.

Can you move our online shop to Shopify without losing customers or orders?

Yes. We carry the product catalogue, customer accounts and past orders across, so returning customers pick up where they left off. Cambridge House kept thousands of past orders and its customer accounts through the move, and every customer record, past order and product came across for Auria's.

We sell through shops and wholesale. Is selling online worth adding?

It often suits brands that already sell in shops, because customers who find you there can reorder online. Savor by Suzie sells wholesale across the US, and its online store now takes bundle and subscription orders directly from customers. Crispy Green's online store fed its move into wholesale retail. Cambridge House takes trade and retail orders in the same store.

Do you work with food brands outside Ireland?

Yes. We've built stores for Crispy Green in New Jersey, Auria's Malaysian Kitchen in New York and Cambridge House in California. Savor by Suzie sells across the US, and The Wine Engine is a UK wine club. Alongside our head office in Cavan, we have offices in New York and Liverpool.

Who pays for the Google and Meta ads?

You pay the ad spend directly to Google and Meta, and our management is billed separately. The ad and analytics accounts stay in your name, and there is no minimum term on monthly work.
