A Shopify rebuild, SEO and Google Ads for a New Jersey snack brand locked out of its own website

After their previous agency locked them out of their own website, we recovered it, rebuilt the store and took on the SEO and Google Ads. Online sales have since grown several times over.

Where it started

When Crispy Green's relationship with their previous agency ended, the agency cut off access to the website and hosting, locking several of the company's own users out of the store. They came to us through a client referral, and it was urgent. One admin account had been overlooked, and that was the way back in. Even then, the site was slow, hard to manage and not built for a growing online store.

What we did and why

Keeping the business online first

Using that account, we took a full copy of the website and kept it running ourselves. The business kept trading while we planned a long-term home for the store, rather than rushing a rebuild.

A new store built around how customers shop

The old site wasn't fit for purpose, so rather than patch it we moved the store to Shopify and carried everything across, including products, collections, customer records, past orders and images. As part of the ecommerce website design, we reworked the navigation and content around how Crispy Green's customers shop, so the store is easy to browse and search with a simple checkout. The design keeps the brand's bright, friendly personality.

Search and ads on the same foundations

We then put a long-term SEO and Google Ads plan in place for competitive searches around freeze-dried fruit snacks, a crowded category in food brand marketing. The content and structure built into the redesign gave organic search a strong base to grow from, and the paid campaigns reached buyers while it did.

What changed

What started as a website rescue became a long-term partnership. Traffic and online sales are now several times what they were before the rebuild, and on Google, Crispy Green competes with major national brands for searches like “crispy fruit”.

The online store's success has also fed the brand's move into wholesale retail across the US.

What this means for your business

Make sure your business, not your agency, holds the admin logins to your website, domain and hosting, because they are your way back in if a relationship ends badly. In a rescue, keep the site trading first and plan the rebuild second, so a crisis doesn't turn into lost sales. Building content and structure for search into a new store gives SEO and ads a stronger base to work from.
