Shopify store design and paid ads for a US gluten-free pretzel brand that sells direct alongside wholesale
We built a Shopify store where customers build their own pretzel bundle and subscribe to regular deliveries, and we run the brand's Google and Facebook Ads.
Where it started
Savor by Suzie's gluten-free, grain-free pretzels were selling well through wholesale across the United States, and direct sales were growing alongside them. The old website wasn't built to sell online at any real volume. It couldn't take subscriptions or let customers build their own bundles, and it wasn't ready for a growing advertising budget, so the direct side of the business had nowhere to grow.
What we did and why
Bundles and subscriptions to make a small range go further
The range is small, with fewer than ten products, so the Shopify store design centres on ways to buy more than one. Customers build their own pretzel bundle, choosing exactly what they want, and can subscribe in a few clicks for regular deliveries, which gives the brand recurring orders alongside one-off sales. The design carries the brand's quirky personality, summed up in its tagline, "It's A No Grainer".
Ads aimed at the people most likely to buy
Gluten-free, grain-free pretzels aren't for everyone, so our Google Ads and Facebook Ads are aimed at health-conscious snackers, gluten-free buyers and gift shoppers across the US rather than at snack buyers in general. The return on ad spend has stayed strong and consistent as the budget has grown. The store also connects to the brand's email marketing, collects customer reviews and shows its Instagram feed, so the store sits at the centre of its food and beverage marketing.
What changed
Savor by Suzie now makes six figures a year in online sales, and subscriptions keep customers ordering on a regular schedule. The wholesale business continues to grow across the US, and customers who find the pretzels in a shop can now reorder online.
What this means for your business
A small product range doesn't have to limit sales, because letting customers build their own bundle and subscribe gives them variety and gives you repeat orders. A niche product can grow steadily on paid ads when the campaigns reach the people most likely to want it. If your product sells in shops, an online store gives customers who find you there an easy way to order again.
