Web design and SEO for a Dublin golf club, with online tee-time booking and membership payments
The club had no website before, and golfers can now book tee times and pay for membership online without anyone on staff getting involved.
Where it started
Golfers looking for a course in Dublin search online, compare green fees and book a tee time, and Buttermountain wasn't there to be found. The club had a loyal membership and a well-regarded 18-hole parkland course in the Dublin Mountains, about 30 minutes from the city centre, but it had no website. Bookings and membership payments were all handled by phone or in person, and prospective members had nowhere to see what the club offered. Meanwhile, clubs with websites were picking up the visitors Buttermountain missed.
What we did and why
Booking and payment on the club's own website
The most important decision on this Dublin web design project was to let golfers book on the site itself instead of leaving every tee time to a phone call. Visitors check availability and book directly on the site through BRS Golf, and membership can be paid for online too, so bookings and payments no longer depend on someone answering the phone.
Answers before anyone has to call
Visitors used to have to ring for the basics, so the site carries them instead: a course guide, competition fixtures and results, society booking information and a membership section that explains each tier. Someone thinking of joining can compare the options in their own time.
Pages built around how golfers search
Online booking only helps if golfers can find the site in the first place. For SEO, we researched how golfers search for a course in Dublin and built the site's pages around those searches. They range from general searches for a course nearby to specific ones about green fees, membership and society bookings. We also set up the club's local listings so it appears in map results.
What changed
Tee times are now booked online at any hour, and membership payments arrive through the site rather than over the phone. The site also brings in golfers from Google who are looking for a course in Dublin, which matters for a club that relies on visitor green fees as well as its members.
What this means for your business
Online booking turns a club website from a brochure into something that takes bookings on its own. For a leisure business that relies on visitors, showing up in local and map searches matters as much as the site itself, because that's where people ready to book start looking. Letting people join and pay online also makes it easier for new members to sign up.
