Web design and SEO for a long-established New York mover that got its first website and built up its Google reviews
Liffey Moving had been trading in New York for more than 50 years without a website. We built the site and ran its SEO, social media and email, and automated review requests took it from 20 Google reviews to more than 630 in two years.
Where it started
When we started working with Liffey Moving, the company had been moving New Yorkers for more than 50 years and still had no website, so anyone searching online for a mover never came across it. That is how most people look for a mover, and the New York market is led by large operators with established websites, strong review profiles and big advertising budgets. Liffey had a strong reputation and a loyal customer base, but none of it was visible to someone comparing movers online.
What we did and why
Content written for the way people plan a move in New York
Large operators held the broad moving searches, so we built the SEO around the practical, local questions they tended to neglect. After researching what the major New York movers ranked for, we mapped content to the right keywords. We kept to a regular blog schedule, from neighbourhood moving guides to practical tips for moving in the city. The website itself was built from scratch for speed and for turning those readers into enquiries.
A review request after every move
People compare reviews before they choose a mover, and asking customers by hand is hard to keep up. We set up MyReviews.ie, our own review platform, so customers were prompted by QR code, text or email after their move, with very little effort from the team. That steady flow of genuine reviews became a major driver of Liffey Moving's visibility in local search and of the trust people placed in it.
Social media and email between moves
Past customers and their referrals matter to a mover, so we kept Liffey Moving in front of them between moves. We ran its social media end to end across several platforms, from content planning and design to captions and scheduling, and managed a regular email newsletter with sign-up forms and automated campaigns.
What changed
While we worked together, the website grew to bring in 500 to 600 calls and form enquiries a month, and Liffey Moving's Google reviews went from 20 to more than 630 in two years. By the end of our engagement, the company was competing with the major players in New York's moving industry.
What this means for your business
A business with decades behind it isn't starting from zero online, because the reputation and customer trust are already there and only need to be made visible. For a local service business, asking every customer for a review is one of the most useful things to set up, since people compare reviews before they choose. Practical, local content is often the ground that larger competitors leave open.
