Portfolio website design for a US corporate events company, built to show the calibre of its past events
MDS Events run corporate summits, incentive trips, conferences and retreats for major brands in the US and abroad. We built them a portfolio website where ten of those events are told in full, with photography from past events doing the heavy lifting.
Where it started
Corporate clients hiring MDS Events are trusting them with events that carry their own brand. Before they commit, they want to see the calibre of past events. MDS Events had plenty to show. The company has managed more than 500 events, from golf retreats at Pebble Beach to NFL festival production during the Super Bowl, and its founder, Michele Stephenson, has more than 30 years in the industry. What they needed was a portfolio website that presented those events to the standard their clients expect.
What we did and why
Past events told in full
We built the site around detailed case studies of ten major events, from corporate summits and international incentive trips to large conferences and festival production. A corporate buyer deciding whether MDS can handle their event learns more from a full account of a similar one than from a list of services.
Letting the photography lead
In corporate events, first impressions and perceived quality count for a lot, so the design is clean and image-led and puts the photography from past events first. A scrolling list of clients shows the recognisable brands MDS Events has worked with, and the founder's biography sets out the experience behind the company.
What changed
MDS Events now has a portfolio site that backs up its sales conversations with prospective corporate clients, with its best events there for a buyer to look through before they commit.
What this means for your business
For a high-end service business, the website's main job is to show the quality of what you've already delivered, and good photography and detailed case studies do most of that selling. Not every website needs search or lead generation as its main goal, because sometimes it's there to back up sales conversations that happen in person.
